We all know that person who has an unhealthy love for makeup. A do I eat this week or do I buy the new Too Faced pallet kind of unhealthy. I was once one of those people, but then I started college and to replace my makeup money for book money, and that’s where I’m at now. Although I don’t buy makeup like I used to, I still love it, and so I made a list of all the makeup and makeup related products that I would love to get as a gift! So here are all the gifts that would be perfect for the makeup lover in your life!

  1. Artis Brushes– I don’t own any of these brushes, but they look heavenly, and everyone I know who has them loves them. I have dreamed of owning these brushes for a long while, but the price is heavy and definitely not in my budget, but everyone who has them says they’re worth it. I’m still saving, but I hope to get a set someday!
  2. Becca Highlighter– I dream of one day owning a Becca Highlighter! The one that I swatch every time I’m in a makeup store is champagne pop and let me tell you it’s crazy beautiful! They have shades that work for every skin tone so if you aren’t sure what to get you can ask someone in the store and I’m sure they will help you find the right shade!
  3. Kylie Cosmetics Velvet Lip Kits– Again, like most high-end makeup I can’t afford this, but I often dream of owning a Kylie Lip Kit. I’ve heard only good things about the lip kits, and I know that they are a great product! I’m excited to see if and when she comes out with a Christmas or holiday collection this year because I love to see what colors she decides to create!
  4. Beauty Blender– I actually own a beauty blender so I can honestly say that this product is amazing! I highly recommend this to anyone who does their makeup. This makes my foundation go on amazing, and it looks full coverage, but natural looking all at the same time! Make sure you get the real product because there are a lot of fakes that don’t work as well.
  5. Tarte Shape Tape Concealer– There is so much hype around this concealer, and as soon as I run out of my Urban Decay concealer I am going to try this one. The only issue with buying this for someone else is the picking the color, but if you’re creative, then I’m sure you can figure something out.
  6. Anastasia Lip Gloss– This product is something that I have been dreaming of ever since gloss came back into style! I would love this gloss, and the reviews are amazing! This seems like a really great product that I would love to try!
  7. Anastasia Contour Kit- This has been on my wishlist for a very long time! Contour kits are great because they feature a couple different shades that could be used for different purposes. I often find the cream version at TJ Maxx, but I’m set on the powder version, so I haven’t considered the cream, but it is an option.
  8. Eyeshadow Palettes- There are so many great palettes that if you ask anyone at a makeup store, they can point you to one of the greats! However, if you want to buy online, I picked out three that are guaranteed to please. The first palette I chose is a new palette that everyone is talking about and that most people love. This palette, the Anastasia Sultry palette is a little pricey, but it’s totally worth it, and you can check it out here! The next palette, created by Morphe, is a more reasonably priced option that is still amazing quality and you can check this palette out here! The last palette is one that is a holiday release by Too Faced, and it’s everything I hoped the holiday palette would be and you can get it here.

The Gift Guide:

  • Resistance Bands: Resistance bands are a great gift especially if you want to get something that isn’t crazy expensive. Since some gyms don’t have resistance bands, these would be great for someone to keep in their gym bag to enhance their workout.
  • Shaker Bottle: This one is a little obvious, but this bottle is good for more than just water. It’s made for protein powder, but it also works for pre-workout and powder supplements. However, this water bottle is used it’s a great multipurpose item.
  • Gym Wear: While every person who spends a decent amount of time at the gym will have some gym wear. It’s nice to have some quality gym wear that will make you feel your best as you workout.
  • Gym Bag: For someone who spends significant time at the gym and might even get ready for work or a night out there will love a gym bag. This is an excellent gift whether they put clothes for the rest of their day, shower stuff, or equipment that they like to bring with them! Check out one of my favorite YouTubers ‘what’s in my gym bag’ video here.
  • Yoga Mat: A yoga mat is great for someone who loves yoga, but is also useful for anyone who works out in general! Yoga mats are good for yoga, stretching, HIIT workouts, and conditioning training.
  • Headphones: Most people who like wearing headphones while they workout probably already have some headphones. However, some people might want a better pair of headphones or even some wireless headphones.
  • Compression Socks/ Sleeves: This is a great gift for runners! My dad and I wear these when we run, and they always make my shins splints feel so much better.

Beginners Guide To Essential Oils!

At my campus, there are a ton of students who love essential oils and depend on them to survive school! I know that I had a ton of questions about what essential oils are and why everyone loves them so much. I decided to contact one of my friends who knows almost everything about essential oils and have her share her story and a beginners guide for everyone who is interested! I will link all her information at the end of the post if you want to check her out and I know she would love to answer your questions! Here is her story!

In 2014, I was so uncomfortable.

I couldn’t take deep breaths to save myself; it felt like I was breathing through a straw every day.

We’d try medications and treatments, but nothing was helping any longer.

A friend of my mom’s told her about essential oils and Young Living. She asked if I wanted to try them. I knew nothing of essential oils. I had no idea what they were. But I was desperate for a change, so I said yes.

So that’s what we did. We got our starter kit from Young Living that contained eleven essential oils and a diffuser. We started using the oils right away! Success!

Raven essential oil was the first oil I ever tried! It still comes in the kit today. So blessed by friends who share and these little bottles of plant juice.

You may have a few questions about oils so here are a few answers!

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

So what are essential oils?

Essential oils are the most powerful part of the plant.  They are the liquids from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, fruit, rinds, resins, and the herbs.  They are what heal the plants and keep them alive! Basically, it’s like plant juice!

The plant is very carefully steam distilled at exact temperatures so that the oil is not damaged, but extracted.  Essential oils are very potent and highly concentrated. They are also volatile, so the essential oil is dispersed quickly into the air when diffused.

Essential oils consist of over 100 different natural, organic compounds.

They are also so versatile!  There are so many uses for each essential oil!  In humans, essential oils provide support for every system in the body: your skeletal system, your muscular system, circulatory system, endocrine system, and your hormones, respiratory system, and immune system.

They support brain health and a healthy weight.  They are used extensively for emotions and for spiritual support in your prayer life.  An oil in a diffuser can soothe a child’s tough day at school and provide a calming effect when you’ve had a stressful day at work.

Oils can be used as an alternative to toxic cleaning chemicals in the home.  You can literally start swapping out every single chemical cleaning toxin in your home to live a purer lifestyle, and you can do it without breaking the bank too! (win, win!)

There are over 300 oils on the earth, but you only need ten to twenty of them to build a good kit.

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

So how do you use essential oils?

Essential oils can be applied topically, diffused into the air + ingested!

One of my favorite ways to use essential oils is diffusing them!  Diffusing essential oils in the air is a wonderful way to receive the amazing benefits. Young Living’s cold mist diffusers are perfect for diffusing! When you become a new member, you’ll receive a diffuser in your starter kit!

Within 20 minutes of using an essential oil, it will affect every cell in the body! Isn’t that awesome?

So why choose Young Living?

As essential oils are becoming more and more popular in today’s world, they are available everywhere.  You could even grab some at the grocery store.

So why Young Living?

Young Living is a wellness company with a passion to share wellness with everyone.  We believe wellness and beauty start from within. Young Living offers many versatile essential oils + products for living a chemical free lifestyle daily.  We have gut health supplements, personal care products, household cleaners + products, makeup, baby products and more.

I met the founders of Young Living, Gary + Mary Young, and I can personally say they care about each individual YL member. They love us!! They want the best for us + our families.

I can personally tell you that living the Young Living { chemical-free! } lifestyle, affects every aspect of our daily living and  I just love it! I’ll never go back.

Before you purchase, check to see if the company grows their own plants, owns their own fields, and controls the entire process from Seed to Seal-from the farm to the sealed bottle. Pesticides, pollution, previously farmed land-all of it can affect the quality of an oil. All of Young Living’s oils are Grade A.  I love their promise to quality! More on this at Seedtoseal.com

I absolutely love that!  What the bottle is labeled with is exactly what’s inside. ❤

. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .

So how do you get started?

Young Living’s Premium Starter Kit is my suggestion. It’s how I got started!

It comes with 11 essential oils, a diffuser (your choice!), a roller ball attachment, some samples, and amazing literature!

When you grab your kit with my link, you will have access to our oily community! We help and support each other so we’re never doing this oils thing alone and it’s super fun.

Here is a brief overview of all the oils that come in that starter kit!

  • Thieves – supports immune system + overall wellness
  • Digize – support digestion and soothes upset tummy…this one has been AMAZING for my gut health
  • Peppermint – refreshing, energizing! It’s also wonderful for concentration and soothing the tummy too!
  • Copaiba – supports the immune system; soothes teething babies
  • Lemon – add to water for refreshing flavor; supports mental clarity…also removes sticky substances! Stickers, anyone?
  • Citrus Fresh – freshens laundry! Diffuse in the bathroom for a refreshing smell!
  • Frankincense – supports healthy skin…promotes calmness + relaxation
  • Raven – supports the respiratory system and easy breathing!
  • Lavender – ideal for all things skin and babies! Promotes calmness and restful sleep!
  • Panaway – supports muscles + joints…apply over body after a workout!
  • Stress Away – it’s relaxing and perfect for restful sleep!

I use these oils to make amazing diffuser blends (goodbye, toxic candles…we’ve found something better!) lotions, sprays…so many things! They paid for themselves a trillion times over.

5 Best Hair Products To Survive The Winter

*This post includes affiliate links to see my disclosure policy click HERE.

It’s the most wonderful time of the year… for us curly hair girls! I do have naturally curly hair, although I prefer to curl my hair!  The lack of humidity and the colder weather has the benefits of less frizzy and more smooth looking hair. Unfortunately, the cold weather also dries out my hair and my scalp. I know the struggle of trying to find hair products that work. Here are all the products that I use to help my hair survive the winter!

Winter Hair 2

  1. Head and Shoulders 2in1 Shampoo*: This product is inexpensive and saves my hair from continually looking like I’ve been outside in the snow. Dandruff is terrible, but this is the best and only shampoo that works for me! (I usually get this in a massive container at Sam’s club)
  2. Macadamia Deep Oil Repair Masque*: This is my holy grail product. I LOVE this product, and I recommend it to everyone I talk to about hair! I use this as my regular conditioner even though it’s a mask because it makes my hair so soft and shiny! (I chose a link for Amazon, but to get the best price buy this at TJMaxx or Marshalls!)
  3. CHI Silk Infusion*: I am all about the hair oils! This oil is excellent, and I love it so much! I put it in my hair after towel drying it, and I just let it soak in and make my hair smooth.
  4. Redken Glow Dry Diamond Oil*: Like I said, oils are the best! I don’t blow dry my hair, but I do use this oil to help protect my hair when I use my curling iron. I use this oil when I put the CHI oil in my hair!
  5. Nume 3in1 Titanium Hair Wand: This curling set is the best thing that I have ever discovered! I used to straighten my hair and then curl it hoping that the curls would stay, and they never did. Then I found this curling wand and my life changed. It’s titanium, so it doesn’t damage your hair as much as ceramic, and my hair is always smooth and never frizzy when I use this wand!

7 Gifts For The Host and Hostess

*This post includes affiliate links to see my disclosure policy click HERE.

Now that it’s November it’s officially the holiday season. This time of the year is surrounded by many holidays celebrated by many different people. The holiday season also means a copious amount of holiday parties. No matter how many parties I attend the question always remains, what do I bring? I always feel awkward showing up to someone’s home without bringing a gift for them. So, I decided to make a guide to help all of you decide what to bring during all these holiday parties and any other dinner party you are invited to.

christmas gift 2.jpg

  1. Wine or Another Fancy Drink: Wine (when you’re of age) is a great gift and appreciated by most hosts. Whether they want to open for everyone to share or save it to relax after everyone is gone. Wine is a classic and appreciated gift. If your host does not drink alcohol then a sparkling juice or non-alcoholic wine would also be a great gift.
  2. Themed Gift Basket: A small gift basket is another great gift. Some examples of a perfect gift basket are a classic hickory farms basket or a small basket of baked goods. If you know the host well enough you can aim for a more personalized basket like a coffee basket for the coffee addict or a popcorn tin for someone who loves to snack. The more personal the gift the better, but if you don’t know them well I would stick with the classics.
  3. Flowers or a Small Potted Plant: Bringing flowers or a small plant is always a good way to say thank you to your host for inviting you over to their home. A seasonal arrangement is always the best option in hopes to coordinate with any decor the host has for the season. A seasonal plant is also a good idea a small poinsettia during the Christmas or a mini collection of succulents for any time of the year.
  4. A Box of Chocolates: A box of chocolates is a great gift and can be another way for the host to unwind after all the guests leave. I would try and get a more high-end box of chocolates instead of a simple box cheap chocolates from the grocery store. The fancier the part the more high-end the chocolate should be.
  5. A Candle: A simple, but effective gift is a candle. Most hosts will love a beautifully scented candle and even better if the scent fits with the season or theme of the party. I always recommend Bath and Body Works for a more relaxed party and Joe Malone for a more elegant event.
  6. Some coffee or tea: If you know your host and their hot drink preference you can get them some tea or coffee. Whether it’s their favorite Starbucks blend or an assorted box of tea from their favorite brand. Giving a gift like this will show the host that you thought of them specifically and pick a gift accordingly.
  7. A book: If you don’t know your host well there are some great coffee table books that would make a great gift for anyone. However, if you know your host will you can pick a book that you know they will enjoy. Either way, a book is a great option for most hosts.

The Best Recipe For Green Bean Casserole

While figuring out what blog posts to write for this Thanksgiving season, I thought I would start with my favorite Thanksgiving dish. I love a traditional Thanksgiving feast, but especially in love with all of the side dishes. I follow a pretty traditional recipe with a couple secret tricks to make it even better.

Me and my green bean cassorale

Ingredients:

  • 1 can of condensed cream of mushroom soup
  • 3/4 cup of milk
  • 1/4 cup of shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1/8 teaspoon of red pepper flakes (optional)
  • 32 ounces of french style green beans (drained)
  • 1 1/3 cup of (French’s) fried onions

Green Bean Cassorale

Directions:

  1. Mix soup, milk, pepper, cheese, and red pepper flakes in a bowl (I use a whisk to make sure the soup is mixed well.)
  2. Stir in a cup of the fried onions and all of the green beans.
  3. Pour into a casserole dish and bake on 350°F for 30-40 minutes or until the sides of the casserole are bubbling.
  4. Top the casserole with the rest of the fried onions and bake for another 5 minutes.
  5. Enjoy!
